Interview with Steve 'Zetro' Souza

I have never really had a favorite band. Instead I have always listened to many bands at the same time. There has been bands that have had bigger impact to me than others. Exodus is one of those bands and my favorite Excodus albums are

Steve 'Zetro' Souza wrote lyrics and sang on those albums and I got an opportunity to interview him for Screamer Magazine. Check out the interview on Steve's history and his new band, Hatriot!

A book!

Last year I challenged myself to select the most meaningful photo for each week and collect them. Well, here's the beginning of that collection. I also turned the project into a book. Go ahead and order a copy for yourself through Blurb.

My Mamiya and few 4x5 film holders.I took a day this week to shoot with my old film cameras. This shows the biggest problem with film compared to digital. Only today (sunday) I managed to get the film into the shop to be processed. I'll get it back earliest on Tuesday and then have to scan and edit the photos. This can also be a good thing, as the whole process is slower, it forces me to think about the photography in a very different way. I can't just shoot, shoot, shoot and pick the best one. I also can't see the pictures during the shoot, so I can't make adjustments based on the results. I have to know how I'm exposing the film. I believe that in the long run this will make me better photographer, especially with camera technique. I believe it will be easier and faster for me to pick the right technique for the shots I'm working on.

Treasure Island Music Festival

I had the privilege to shoot the Treasure Island Music Festival for Performer Magazine. The festival is arranged by Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment, both of which have long history in arranging festivals in San Francisco. The two day festival was split into party day for Saturday and more mellow lineup for Sunday. Here are some of my personal highlights. (click on the photos for more)

Dirty Ghosts
The Coup
Public Enemy
Joanna Newsom
Best Coast
Divine Fits
Gossip
Check more photos and review of the festival on December issue of Performer Magazine.

Red Fang

Some cool music comes from Portland, Oregon. One of my favorites is Red Fang. Click on the photo to read my review of the show at Slim's.

Accept at The Regency Balroom, San Francisco

Accept is one of the bands I have been a huge fan since the 80's. I never really even thought it was possible to see them live, but the guys were on tour with Kreator and Swallow the Sun and stopped in San Francisco on Sept 25th. Here's a slideshow from the gig for you all.

Flying musicians

I just happened to snap a series of shots of "Like Moths to Flames" where the basist, Aaron Evans and guitarist, Eli Ford are floating in mid-air. And I just had to share ;)
